Deon is a Detroit native whose roots stem from the crates of family. Growing up hearing many different styles of music in the household is the inspiration behind his range of selection. Inspired by everything from jazz, funk, & soul, to more modern black dance music forms like hip-hop/r&b, house, techno, & brokenbeat. His career in Detroit began as resident DJ & organizer for the monthly hip-hop showcase "Bluecollar Gentleman". At the same time Deon started working alongside Theo Parrish & Sound Signature, helping organize and promote the Music Gallery party series. Spending years consuming & working in Detroit's underground would help inform his own more dancefloor/community oriented event, "Healin' Session" as well as the immersive music and art experience, "Black Music". Recently, Deon was asked by the legendary Theo Parrish to help him selecting artists that he knows in order to be part of a great compilation, representing the originality and essence of the Detroit's sound.
